Eastern Gateway Community College to host training for workers in gas, oil industries

By Briona Arradondo and  NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

Eastern Gateway Community College will host a three-day safety training program for workers in the oil and gas industry.

EGCC officials worked with Progress Alliance to partner with Zane State to bring in instructors. The program includes awareness training with chemicals, safety training and first aid.

The training cost $300 for all three days. School officials said they get many calls from oil and gas companies asking for workers to be trained.

"We've had companies from Michigan that are doing business, coming into the county call us and say, 'Hey, we need training,' " Tracee Joltes, EGCC assistant director of workforce, said. "We've trained some companies that had to come down here to train because they are coming into the area."

The program is Oct. 24-26 at the EGCC Pugliese Center.
