Report: Ohio 'Decent' At Tracking Graduates

A new report gives Ohio "decent" marks for tracking how our students are doing after graduation.

According to the non-profit Data Quality Campaign, the state provides comprehensive information on all public high school graduates who attended college in-state.

Parents or teachers can log onto a website and find out, by high school, general information (not personal info) on who went to college, and if they struggled and had to take remedial classes.

The study's authors said that knowing how students fare in college can help improve K-12 curriculum.

“This feedback information is critical to finding out what's working and how do we make sure we drive our resources of time, energy and money to what we know works in these budget times,” said Aimee Guidera of the Data Quality Campaign.

The report does say Ohio can do a better job at organizing its data.

Information on Ohio high school graduates can be found at the link here. West Virginia, however, does not make the data available.

For more information, the link to the full report is also made available here.
