EHS Band-Let the Games Begin…8/29/08

The 2008-2009 Edison High School Band marching season kicked off with a bang even before school was in session. The Wildcats hosted St. Clairsville on Friday, August 23 for their home football opener. The band’s halftime repertoire consisted of the iconic band Van Halen’s greatest hits: Dreams, Why Can’t This Be Love?, and JUMP. The bands gave an outstanding performance, much to the enjoyment of the home fans.

The season continues as the band travels with the team to Martins Ferry this Friday. This is a unique experience as the band rarely performs on “Astro turf”. Freshman Melia Baker said, “This is very exciting. Only a few schools have “turf” and it is a rare occasion to march on it. I am still a little nervous!”

The Band would also like to announce Tearin’ Up the Turf III- a showcase of bands form around the area. This year’s extravaganza, tentatively entitled Instruments of Destination, is scheduled for September 20th at Carwright Field on the campus of Edison High School. The band has received verbal commitments from St. Clairsville and Robert Morris University with more commitments on the way. More information will be released next week.

Good Luck EHS Marching Band!
