Eight-hour police standoff yields arrests

By Kate Davison

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio —

New details are being released after an eight-hour police standoff at a mobile home in Guernsey County Monday.

Cambridge police officers are investigating an armed robbery in a vehicle in Cambridge early Tuesday morning.

Police said two people gave two suspects a ride in their vehicle earlier in the morning. Officials said that’s while the suspects were being given a ride, they reportedly produced weapons and demanded money. At least one weapon was believed to be a handgun.

Police said the suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.

Cambridge police officers were given the information and a SWAT team responded to Garfield Avenue in Cambridge around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving notification two suspects were barricaded in a trailer, potentially armed and dangerous.

Residents of the home said the two suspects were inside, and refused to leave.

Authorities set up a perimeter outside the home, and eight hours later, the two suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Authorities said the mobile home suffered substantial damage following the standoff and over 50 emergency service personnel were involved in the incident.

The two suspects are wanted for questioning in other recent robberies. Their identities are not yet being released.
