Steubenville, OH —

A portion of Lauretta Drive, where it meets John Scott Highway in Steubenville, is under construction.

The roadway has been closed since the middle of December. Officials with the city of Steubenville approved two emergency ordinances at the beginning of January that will help fix a culvert collapse underneath the road.

The collapse posed a threat to the high volume of cars, school buses and ambulances that travel the road on a daily basis.

Crews began emergency work on Monday. NEWS9 asked officials when the work will be completed.

"It all depends on weather. So if the weather is like it's been the last week, we could be a couple weeks out from completion," said City Engineer Michael Dolak. "If not and the weather turns bad it could be February but our target date is Feb. 5."

The city received more than $84,000 through a grant with the Ohio Public Works Commission for the project.
