STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Mike McGlumphy from the Jefferson County Community Action Council announced the agency just signed agreements with 14 new clients.

McGlumphy explained that the news means more employers are looking for workers in the Ohio Valley.

"Talking to some of these companies, they're saying it's slow right now but they're expecting it to pick up in January again," said McGlumphy.

McGlumphy said all the new clients are related to the oil and gas industry .

"By my calculations, we're only about 2 percent into this," said McGlumphy. "Entry-level work in the oil and gas industry is the deck hands, the grunt work, dragging the pipes, but CDL driving is the way to go. Right now, I'm placing almost 100 percent of CDLs coming out of training. These companies are hiring people coming right out of school."

McGlumphy announced plans for the CAC to host an Oil and Gas Employment and Training fair on Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Steuben Mall. He explained what employers will need from their workers.

"Drug-free, ready to work, and willing to give a company a full day's work for a full day's pay," said McGlumphy. "That's what they're looking for. They'll train them."
