By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

A Jefferson County school district facing a slashed budget is putting a levy back on the ballot this spring.

Edison Local school officials are discussing a 9.45 mil levy that failed on the ballot in November.

Federal and state budget cuts haven't helped; if the levy doesn't pass, the district could face a deficit of $700,000 by the end of this year, officials said.

School officials said they want the public to get involved.

"It's to give us an idea and the public an idea of the cuts that are going to be coming if we don't pass the levy March 6," said David Quattrochi, the Edison Local Schools superintendent.

School officials will hold a series of meetings to get feedback from the community.

The first meeting will be Mondayat the Saline Township Building. Then, there will be meetings all week:at the Stratton Municipal Building on Tuesday; at the Bergholz Fire Department on Wednesday, at Pleasant Hill School on Thursdayand at the Glen Mills Center, Jan. 30.

All meetings will start at 6:30 p.m., and anyone with budget concerns for the school district is encouraged to attend.
