Family Mourns Victim Of Train Accident

Candlelight Vigil Held In Uhrichsville

Family and friends gathered in Uhrichsville Friday night to remember Todd Vandine, the victim of last week's train accident in Dennison.

"He was my best friend and it's sad. I'm trying not to tear up, but I don't really know what to say because I'm like in shock," Michael Taylor said.

Loved ones are doing their best to cope with the loss and look at the good things Vandine left behind. First and foremost, his three children.

Amanda Jones said, "Chase is I guess driving now, which shocked us all. His beautiful daughter, Kiara, I've talked to her mom several times here the last week; I guess she's being a little pistol. His little boy Tanner is happy go lucky just like Todd all the time."

Uhrichsville police are calling Vandine's death a terrible tragedy, but his mother, Theresa Virtue, says she still has so many unanswered questions.

Theresa Virtue said, "Most of my questions about Todd's accident stems from where Todd was minutes before the accident. How Todd could have been smoking a cigarette when his cigarettes were left at the residence Todd had just left. Why did Todd have this man's cell phone on his person? Was there a struggle at this man's residence?"

Virtue said she knows she will find the answers she needs to her questions.

The Uhrichsville Police Department is still looking into the accident. The department had a hard time initially finding evidence because of snow. Vandine's body has been sent for an autopsy.
