Family releases name of man killed in oil well explosion

By NEWS9

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio —

The family of a man killed when an oil well exploded has confirmed his name.

Paul C. Sherman, 19, was killed in Monday's blast in Tuscarawas County, his father told NEWS9's news partners at The Times-Reporter.

Sherman was doing touch-up painting at the well site when the explosion happened around 9:30 a.m. off state Route 212 in Bolivar.

His father, Michael Sherman, said his son was originally from Jackson Township, near Canton. He was a full-time college student and a subcontractor for a Canton-based company.

The Tuscarawas County coroner told The Times-Reporter that he would not confirm or release the victim's name until he is 100 percent sure of a positive identification, which will be made through dental records.
