Family remembers 18-month-old who was killed in 2009

By Alex Koscevic

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

It has been more than three years since the death of an 18-month-old in Jefferson County was ruled a homicide. According to autopsy results, Christopher Joy Jr.'s death was due to blunt force trauma. Wednesday, his family held a memorial, remembering him while still looking for answers to his death.

"My son was awesome. I mean, couldn't ask for a greater kid. He was the happiest baby in the world. The boy never cried unless he wanted a bottle or a nap. I mean there's no reason for any of this to happen," said Christopher Joy Sr., the father of the boy who was killed.

No one has been charged with the crime -- something Joy Sr. said keeps him up at night.

"It's the hardest thing in the world for anyone to deal with. I mean, still to this day, I don't sleep normal. ... It's something I deal with every day. I wake up in cold sweats, everything. There's no answers to nothing. I got left with just a big question of  'Why?'" he said.

Joy Sr. said he hopes someone is eventually charged with the crime, because he and his family need closure.

Of the person who committed the crime, he had this to say: "I hope he gets what he deserves. I hope justice isserved. I mean, it was an 18-month-old baby in cold blood, and he doesn't deserve any of it."
