Fan Fever Hits Steubenville

The football teams of Steubenville Big Red and Steubenville Catholic Central faced each other year after year in one of the most highly charged rivalries in the Ohio Valley.

Both teams already have a state title to their name. Big Red won in 1984 and Central won in 1993. Now, in 2005, both teams are looking to bring the city another win, and fans who once rooted against each other are cheering each other on!

NEWS9 talked to students and fans from Big Red and Catholic Central who said they plan on supporting each other 100%. Fans told us they think having both teams in a state title game is good for the city.

You don't have to look far to find signs of support - literally. There are signs supporting both Central and Big Red all over the city. Many business owners said they want to show their support for the city and both of it's schools.

So, Roll Red Roll and Let's Go Blue! Fans from both schools are putting old high school rivalries aside and showing each other lots of support.
