Fans Talk Super Bowl Holiday

Year after year, the Super Bowl gets national attention. People buy groceries like it's Thanksgiving, stores decorate like they do for other holidays and people gather to celebrate.

"The Super Bowl is a big party, and holidays are just family parties. The Super Bowl is family and friends," said Aleah Nardo, a Cleveland Browns fan from St. Clairsville.

For some, they said the Super Bowl is more than a football game and said it should be considered a national holiday. According to one Ohio Valley resident, Sunday should be to prepare and Monday to recover.

Shopping-wise, the Super Bowl already resembles some national holidays. Like Christmas, the Super Bowl has discounts of its own with game merchandise marked down.

"I don't know if it should be a holiday," said St. Clairsville resident Sam Ferguson. "But it shouldn't be a work day if one of your teams is in the game!"
