Police believe 2-year-old Mylie died Sunday as a result of child abuse. The girl's mother, 21-year-old Erin Bell, is charged with voluntary manslaughter.
"I want everybody that has a small child to look up and tell their kid every morning that they love them because tomorrow is never promised to anybody," Rodriguez said.
Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson said the medical examiner believed the child died from blunt force trauma to the head and said the girl had "extensive bruising over a large portion of her body."
Bell was arrested Monday night at her apartment in the Wolfhurst section of Bridgeport. The sheriff is asking anyone who knows the child or the family and may have noticed anything suspicious to contact the Sheriff's Office.
An autopsy was incomplete as of Thursday morning.
