Father Sentenced In Daughter's ATV Death

The father of a 7-year-old Michigan girl pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of vehicular homicide. Hannah Doody died after riding on the front of a four-wheeler with her father, Edward Doody, just off of Jewett-Hopedale road in Harrison County, Ohio.

The Doodys were visiting family near Jewett. The Harrison County prosecutor said the two were going up a 84 percent incline when the ATV flipped backwards pinning the 7-year-old between her father and the vehicle.

Prosecutor Shawn Hervey said Doody is suffering a severe consequence and is otherwise a good father.

"Our viewpoint is, we need to send a message to the community to act responsibly when using ATVs," said Hervey.

Doody was given a 30-day suspended sentence, probation and a suspended sentence for one year.
