WHEELING, W.Va. —
The video of the man was taken shortly before Tuesday's robbery at WesBanco on Wheeling Island. On the video, the man is seen walking in a parking lot wearing a light-colored T-shirt and dark shorts.
Investigators said even though the man's face is not visible, someone may recognize his mannerisms, like the way he walks and carries himself.
RAW VIDEO: Bank Robbery Suspect Caught On Tape
A few minutes into the video, the same man walks past the camera again wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and continues down the sidewalk.
"He was sort of en route to the bank as he was walking the second time across the scene from left to right," said Joseph Sobocinski, a special agent with the FBI's Wheeling office.
Sobocinski said the robber waited to enter the bank until the last customer left. He then asked a teller for a dollar in exchange for four quarters.
"Then he suddenly turned and went in sort of a lunging motion, as they described it, toward the teller … and that's the teller whose window got broken," he said.
The teller suffered a minor injury during the incident. The robber did not show a weapon was investigators said they don't believe he was armed.
The robber is described as a white man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. Investigators said he may have had a small goatee. Sobocinski said many local police officers think the robber is from the area because of the way he ran and where he went before and after the robbery.
"We're looking real closely at a couple of people who fit the description and whose whereabouts are currently unknown. It might possibly be this guy," Sobocinski said.
He said police are relying on information from the public to catch the bank robber. Investigators also recovered the robber's sweatshirt and other pieces of evidence. Further, they might obtain more surveillance video from another local business.
