Fight over cell phone lands man in jail

By NEWS9

WHEELING, W.Va. —

A Glen Dale man is behind bars charged with malicious wounding and battery, all stemming from a fight over a cell phone, according to reports.

Wheeling police said a woman called 911 early Saturday morning after she got into a fight on Joan Street.
Christopher Thomas Gyorko, 29, was dropping off the woman at a residence when he tried to obtain her cell phone. After she wouldn't give it to him, police said Gyorko grabbed the woman's neck and slammed her head into the dashboard several times.

Police later found out he was previously convicted of domestic violence in 2011, reports said.

Magistrate Joe Roxby arraigned him in court Sunday morning. Roxby set his bond at $100,000 bond for charges of malicious wounding and domestic battery.
