Fire Sweeps Through Jefferson County Business

Monday night, the state Fire Marshall visited the site of Pizza Express on Main Street in Tiltonsville to determine the cause of a blaze that swept through the shop Monday afternoon.

The fire started shortly before 3:00 p.m. Several area departments were on scene helping to put out the fire -- including Tiltonsville, Martins Ferry and Brilliant. One worker was inside when the fire started. She was starting the ovens, getting ready to open the shop. She was able to get out unharmed.

The apartment building next to the shop was evacuated, but crews were able to keep the fire contained. The business has been in the community for 15 years. Owners tell NEWS 9 they hope to rebuild.
