EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio —

East Liverpool firefighters battled a vacant house fire Saturday night, according to Columbiana County fire officials.

Flames engulfed the structure about 5 p.m. on Anderson Boulevard. Smoke still billowed from what was left of the home hours later. Dispatchers said it was vacant, and no one was hurt.

Liverpool Township and East Liverpool fire departments responded to the call.

Neighbors said they aren't surprised the house went up in flames.

"You know, sometimes there’s candles lit in there. We've seen kids coming in and out of there all of the time. We've reported it," said David Douds, a neighbor.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
