Former athletic director joins West Liberty fundraising campaign

By The Associated Press

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. —

Former West Virginia University athletic director Ed Pastilong has joined a team that's raising money for West Liberty University.

Pastilong served WVU in Morgantown from 1989 through 2010. But the Moundsville native is now helping out the Northern Panhandle school.

Development Director Angela Zambito-Hill calls him a visionary who will focus on athletic fundraising.

At WVU, Pastilong oversaw some $65 million in facility renovations, more than doubled the athletic department budget and steered WVU into the Big East football conference. This year, the school moved into the Big 12.

Last month, West Liberty launched its largest fundraising campaign ever.

The school has about 2,700 students, and a faculty and staff of 433. It's been in a silent phase of fundraising for several years.
