WHEELING, W.Va.--

Crews with Dore and Associates demolished the Main Street side of the former G.C. Murphy store in downtown Wheeling early Sunday morning.

Along with that building, crews demolished the facade of the former Velez dental office, and the old Graham Building.

All Main Street buildings are now rubble as crews continue to demolish the 1100 block of downtown.

G.C. Murphy closed its doors in the early 1990's after filing bankruptcy nationwide. For a short time after, Imperial Display occupied the building, until they moved out in the late 1990's.

Cleanup will continue all week long to remove the rubble on Main Street. Crews will then demolish the Market Street facade of the Murphy building, and finish up by tearing down the old Feet First building.

The Howard's Diamond Center, Viocelli Pizza and Panda Express buildings are not being torn down in this project.
