JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

An intern who worked at the School of Bright Promise in Jefferson County from November 2012 to January 2013 spoke exclusively with NEWS9 about the video she recorded during physical therapy sessions that led to one woman's arrest.

Physical therapist Debra Copeland is charged with three counts of child endangerment. Her case is set to head before a grand jury.

B.J., who asked to only be referred to by her first name, used her iPhone to record three sessions on three different days of two different special needs students.

The occupational therapist was supposed to serve out her last internship at a different location, but due to extraneous circumstances, was placed at Bright Promise.

She spoke about the suspicions that led up to those recordings.

"Her demeanor, they way she would speak about the children, sometimes I would hear her talk down to kids. It seemed odd to me," she said.

While she had reservations at first, she said she knew she had to take the risk.

"I was just thinking, if I get something, way to go. If I didn't, shame on me," she added.

She explained how she managed to record without anyone knowing.

"I took my phone out of the case. I put my case cover back together and stuck it on the desk face down so it looked like my phone was still in there. Then I took my phone and stuck it on the desk with just a box of crackers in front it," she said.

In the video NEWS9 received from the parents of Teria Brown, you can see Teria being pushed to the ground from a sitting position.

"Any child would react the same way, if you get up and walk away they are going to get up and look," said B.J.

The woman in the video can also be seen calling Teria an expletive and forcefully making her stand up against a table.

While the parents of the second child have not yet released their video, B.J. vividly remembered the moments that left her in tears.

"At one point she pinches below the butt and looks out the window and pulls the pants down a little and checks to see if she leaves a mark. She smacks her on the rear end. Pinches her on the top of her hand until the point that she pulls the skin up and twists it. The little girl is just crying and crying," said B.J.

Aside from physical contact, the video reveals a great deal of verbal abuse.

"When I was at home I didn't know the full extent. I couldn't watch it. I watched it for the first time at the police department with the family," said B.J.

She said before Steubenville police even finished viewing the recordings, they had pulled the therapist out of the school.

When asked if it was worth the risk of taking the video, B.J. responded saying, "Yes. I had questions. I didn't know what to do with it (video) myself, but after it was all over I knew I did the right thing."
