WELLSBURG, W.Va. -- A man who dedicated his life to serving the people of Brooke County will be laid to rest Saturday.
Bernie Kazienko died Monday after a four-year-long battle with cancer.
Kazienko began his public service as a sheriff's deputy in 1974. He eventually worked his way up to chief deputy before being elected sheriff.
Most recently Kazienko was a county commissioner.
Services were scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Wellsburg.
Kazienko will be laid to rest at Brooke Cemetery immediately following the service.
