NOBLE COUNTY, Ohio --
A juvenile and a man are charged in connection with two shooting incidents -- one of which was fatal -- that police said are connected by Craigslist ads.
The sheriff's office was expected to release the names of the victims and the two suspects in custody, but the court issued a gag order for the case so investigators cannot release any more information.
However, NEWS9 has learned a motion was made to try a 16-year-old as an adult and there will be a special hearing in the near future.
According to court documents from the Noble County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division, the juvenile is from Stow, Ohio, and is accused of attempted murder and complicity to attempted murder.
The juvenile is also charged with purposely aiding or abetting the second suspect, Richard J. Beasley, whose name is listed on court documents in conjunction with the juvenile's case.
Beasley, 52, who is currently being held in the Summit County Jail. Noble County courts do not have Beasley's new charges, but he does have a previous criminal record and a warrant was issued for his arrest in September.
According to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, in two separate cases stemming from February, Beasley was previously charged with aggravated trafficking of drugs, tampering with evidence, possession of criminal tools, aggravated menacing, possession of counterfeit controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of drugs.
On Thursday, police released information that one person was killed and another wounded after they were lured to Noble County with the prospect of landing jobs doing farm work, then tricked into going to a rural area with men who intended to kill them.
Sheriff Stephen Hannum said the incidents happened on Rado Ridge and Don Warner roads. A man from South Carolina told police that he responded to a local job listing on Craigslist. When he came to town for the work, two men picked him up and said they were going to drive him to the project but then started shooting at him.
That investigation led officers to the body of a second person who was found buried in a shallow grave. Police said they believe that victim also responded to an ad for a job.
The man who helped the injured South Carolina man said, "He said he heard a gun click or whatever, and he started running. He was shot in the arm then he hid in the woods for so many hours."
