Hancock Co. sex assault investigation headed to grand jury

By Kelly Camarote and  NEWS9

HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. —

The cases of three Weirton residents charged in connection with a sexual assault will be handed over to the next grand jury.

Tyler Bedillion, 22, is charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault in connection with an incident involving a 14-year-old girl. He waived the reading of the complaint in Hancock County Magistrate Court on Friday.

Roger and Ronda Bedillion are each charged with child neglect creating substantial risk for injury. Their attorneys waived the preliminary hearings in magistrate court so their cases will be bound over to the next grand jury.

Though the charges are different, the three defendants face the same penalties.

If the Bedillions are convicted, each could be sentenced to one to five years in jail, Magistrate Scott Hicks said.

Roger and Ronda Bedillion remain free on bond. Tyler Bedillion remains in the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail because he has not posted bond.

A preliminary hearing for Tyler Bedillion is scheduled for Sept. 28.
