Related

The Harrison Hills school board approved a resolution Thursday night to accept bids and authorize the sale of Lakeland Elementary School.

Of the board members, four voted in favor with only one opposed.

Two separate parties are now set to take over different parts of the property.

Roger and Christina Gilpin of Freeport will take over 19 acres along with the school to expand their educational software and Internet business, Select-O-Sep.

Allan Miller of Holmesville will take over the additional 50 acres. Each owner will get the mineral and timber rights for their newly acquired land.

The transfer of ownership is expected to take place in two weeks.
