JEFFERSON COUNTY, OHIO—

Police were sent on a high-speed chase through two counties, and one woman is recovering in a Pittsburgh hospital after a hit-and-run in Jefferson County.
The incident started when the driver was trying to leave a party in Knoxville, Ohio, with his three children, police said.

Police said the man had been drinking, and the woman, who was apparently his girlfriend and the mother of the children, tried to stop him.
The driver then ran her over and fled, leading to the chase, police said

Police said the man, James Bishop, was spotted by Saline Township police around 12:30 Thursday night.
Police said Bishop led them on a chase down Route 7, into Colombiana County, got off at the Clark exit and went down Old Route 7 across from Mountaineer Park and into the camping ground area. The chase topped 120 mph, police said.
The three young children were in the back seat of the car, during the chase, police said.
"He put the officers at risk, he put himself at risk, and most importantly he put those three babies at risk," said Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla.
Police said Bishop drove into the woods, and police had to use a military-style Humvee to reach him.
"When they finally found the vehicle, the vehicle was not running, windows cranked up, three children in the car, and they were saturated with perspiration. They were sweating. Those kids were scared to death," said Abdalla.
It was around 3 a.m. Friday when police finally arrested Bishop.

"We wanted to catch this guy. If we had to be there all night all getting soaking wet, we didn't care. We had to catch him cause we knew there were three children in the vehicle with him, and we didn't know what he was capable of. If he could flee an officer at 120 mph they could be capable of anything," said Abdalla.
Bishop is now behind bars at the Jefferson County Jail.
Police said he will face a list of charges, and this isn't the first time he has tried to run from police, they said.

The woman police say Bishop hit, Jonni Lynn Zook, is at Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital recovering from several broken bones.
The children, ages 6, 7 and 9, are now in Zook's custody.
