Hockey Means Cash For Ohio Valley

The Ohio Valley should see a nice economic boost this weekend thanks to a college hockey tournament in Wheeling.

The Wheeling-Mountaineer Invitational Hockey Tournament began Saturday at noon with West Virginia University going head-to-head against Ohio University. They're joined by two other colleges in the tournament: Duquesne University and West Chester University. All the teams are nationally ranked. This is the first tournament of it's kind for these schools. Players, parents and other supporters are coming from all over Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Tournament Co-Chairman Dean Lakios said, "For the weekend, the parents and players have booked over 100 hotel rooms here in Wheeling. Gonna have a 160, 170 people from out of town in town. Gonna be eating here and spending money here."

The tournament wraps up Sunday with the championship game starting at 2 p.m.
