Hoops for HoHo teaches skills to children for good cause

By NEWS9

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio —

Boys and girls in Belmont County tested their skills on the basketball court Saturday at Ohio University Eastern for a good cause.

The annual Hoops for HoHo event paired about 80 children with basketball players and coaches. They teach the young athletes basic skills like passing and dribbling while in the Christmas spirit.

Each child who registers for the clinic brings a toy for the needy.

"We've been doing this for 12 years, and every year we get a really good response to it," said organizer E.J. Schodzinski, of OUE. "We're happy with today's turnout as well. We're pretty full in there."

Organizers said all donations will go to the Bethlehem Apostolic Temple in Wheeling.
