Intense flames rip through Sistersville home

By NEWS9

TYLER COUNTY, W.Va.----

Fire officials said the fire at a home in Tyler County was so intense that they weren't able to get inside to extinguish the flames.

The blaze broke out around 9 a.m. Sunday at 112 South Wells Street in Sistersville.

Officials said no one was home at the time the fire broke out.

Chief Steve Leasure of the Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department said the cause is still under investigation.

Leasure also said no one was hurt, but a family pet was killed in the fire.

At one point, officials said the flames were so extreme that they caused the roof and second floor to cave in.

At this time, the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
