WHEELING, W.Va. —

Fire investigators are searching for what caused a home to catch fire Saturday morning in Wheeling.

A family of four adults and one child escaped from their burning house at 452 North Huron St. about 8 a.m., said Wheeling Fire Chief Larry Helms. A resident called dispatchers after waking up and attempting to put out the flames, he said.

The fire started on the first floor then spread to the second floor and attic space, causing the structure to become a total loss, Helms said.

No one was hurt, and the house has major smoke and fire damage, Helms said.
