It's Hot Across The Valley!

While those temperatures are soaring, people are trying to cool off anyway they can. But some people have to work outside, and the hospital is already seeing patients because of this heat.

"Its hot. Its like Africa hot, said Scott Murphy, who works downtown. It doesn't make sense, and I am too fat for this heat."

Its summer in the city and the heat wave is being felt across the country.

Folks in wheeling are trying to stay cool any way they can.

Umbrellas, water, and sunglasses were easy to find down at Heritage Port.

And while most opted to stay inside, some have no choice but to work outside.

"You gotta pace yourself, said Ron Thompson, who works construction. That's what it all boils down to."

Thompson is working on the sidewalks at Heritgate Port. Hes was out in the sun all day on Monday. While he said it doesn't bother him, he still doesn't like it.

"Id rather it be a nice day, I mean a little cooler, a nice breeze, it would be

a lot nicer," said Thompson.

While it's hot outside, it's even worse inside a car. Studies show that on hot humid days, the inside of a car can go up 30 degrees a minute. Proving that even a short time in the car, can be deadly.

Hospitals are already seeing patients because of the intense heat.

"Weve had a number of heat derived illness, said Dr. Dave Burkman, at Wheeling Hospital. People vomiting, people with heat cramps, people passing out."

Burkman said the evening is when they see most cases of heat exhaustion, and expects between eight and 10 more cases everyday until the heat wave subsides.

And it doesn't look like the temperature is going to go down any time soon.
