Jefferson Co. house fire rekindles

By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio ---

A Jefferson County house fire rekindled Saturday afternoon along County Road 60 after it already caught fire Friday night.

Amsterdam firefighters along with East Springfield and Bergholz extinguished flames at house number 309 about 2 p.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Jason Gallagher, of Amsterdam Volunteer Fire department, said this time the fire started up on the roof.

The homeowners escaped Friday after the chimney or attic area caught fire, officials said.

A state fire marshal will look into a cause.
