By NEWS9

SHADYSIDE, Ohio —

Students at Jefferson Elementary School were evacuated Monday morning after dispatchers said a belt is believed to have become stuck on a motor inside a furnace, igniting the insulation.

Shadyside schools superintendent John Haswell said a small fire was contained to one room and has been extinguished.

Officials said classes have resumed.

Fire departments responded to the area and as of nine a.m. were still at the scene.

Students were evacuated to the playground of the school.
