A man who abducted and raped a Wheeling girl three years ago asked a judge to be moved to a different jail.

Joshua Ridings is already serving time for the crime on the federal level, but he still faces state charges.

Ridings received 40 years in prison for the federal trial, but faces the possibility of life in prison if found guilty on state charges. He is charged with 11 state charges, including kidnapping and multiple counts of sexual assault in the first and second degree. He previously pleaded not guilty to all counts.

During a court appearance Wednesday, a judge denied Ridings' request to be moved from the Northern Regional Jail to the Central Jail.

Ridings' attorney also requested a second opinion on his client's mental status exam.
