BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

An ongoing investigation led to the arrests of two people in Bellaire on Thursday, officials told NEWS9.

The arrests involved the alleged trafficking of prescription medication.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were part of the investigation leading to the arrests at 4687 Harrison St. just after 9 a.m. The suspects' names were not released as of noon.

Belmont County Drug Task Force Commander John McFarland said officers had been making controlled bulk buys out of the duplex.

Police said they also recovered several items believed to be stolen from inside the house, including a full-size parking meter.

The Belmont County Drug Task Force; sheriff's office; and Shadyside, Bellaire, Bridgeport and Martins Ferry Police departments were all involved in the raid. McFarland said the drug task force has been receiving more funding as of late with help from the commissioners.

He said the funds are used “to increase our activity and able to have more money to do more investigations, so that is a plus, and we have been able to do more now than what we have in the past."
