WHEELING, W.Va. —

The second most famous country music show in the U.S. is set to return to Wheeling soon.

Wheeling Jamboree Inc. and Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack announced on Thursday that the World's Original Wheeling Radio Jamboree is "fulfilling a long overdue homecoming in Wheeling entertainment and tourism."

Starting Oct. 6, the Wheeling Jamboree will present its weekly live country music stage show on Saturdays from the Wheeling Island Showroom.

The Jamboree can also be heard live worldwide via its streaming Internet feed, by video on demand, via a free smart phone player and on a syndicated radio broadcast.

In a news release from Wheeling Island, representatives said, "The Jamboree continues to rebuild its family of young entertainers blended with veteran performers and groups that have appeared on the show for decades. These entertainers continue to present various styles of Classic & Modern Country, Bluegrass and Americana including upcoming entertainers along with Jamboree family acts that have been staples of the show's 79-year legacy."

The opening presentation of the Jamboree from the Wheeling Island Venue starts at 6 p.m. and will feature singer-songwriter Lauren Mascitti from Louisville, Ohio. The Oct. 6 show will also feature the innovative bluegrass music of Redd Brand and the Jamboree USA Band.

On Oct. 13, the current patriarch of the Wheeling Jamboree -- Darnell Miller -- will be featured along with Lois Scott and the National Pike Pickers.

Additions to the Jamboree leadership include former WWVA program director and Jamboree announcer Tom Miller (director), longtime Jamboree entertainer and original member of the Short Creek Flat-pickers John Angius (director /secretary) and new director, former Grand Ole Opry announcer and host of numerous TV and radio productions, Keith Bilbrey.
