Levy Funds Improving Memorial Park

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

A five-year park levy is helping make major improvements to Memorial Park and Allen Pool.

"The levy is in its fourth year. We have one more year left on the levy, which is the money that's changing the park," said park manager Bruce Moynihan.

The money has given the park a complete makeover. This summer, residents will see some of the biggest improvements so far.

"We were able to put new water lines into the park with the levy money so we could operate a restroom. Additionally, we have a lot of renovations to the baseball field," said Moynihan.

Allen Pool has also reaped the levy benefits. New concrete, a diving board and a water slide will be ready to go this summer.

"The park has really changed in the last five years. The park had really gotten to the point where it was run down, and there was no money to fix it. But now that we have the money the public graciously gave us, we've been able to do things and they're seeing it," said Moynihan.

As a thanks to the community for passing the levy, Allen Pool will be free of cost during the Memorial Day weekend.

"We've decided to open the pool to everyone this weekend as a response to their generosity for voting for the levy," said Moynihan.

Moynihan said a lot of things are on the planning board for next year as well.
