Local Student Receives National Attention For Anti-Bullying Efforts

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

Efforts to combat bullying locally at one elementary school are now receiving national attention.

Carly Jo Laughery organized a project to order and sell anti-bullying shirts at Hills Elementry School in the Indian Creek School District.

Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on NBC's "The Today Show" recognized her efforts and now people in Florida, Texas and Maryland are requesting these shirts that say "I love love, I hate hate, Kids against bullying."

"When you see people wearing their shirts, I want them to stop and think and make a change," Laughery said.

The shirts sell for $10 and almost 200 shirts have sold so far.
