BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

Martins Ferry police confirmed that a home along Vineway Street caught fire around 9:45 Tuesday night.

According to Fire Chief Jack Regis, the home is a total loss. A single mother and her 1-year-old and 4-year-old daughters have lost everything.

Donations can be brought to the Martins Ferry Police Department. Officials said the mother wears size 7 in pants and medium in shirts. The 1-year-old girl wears size 18-24 months, and the 4-year-old girl wears 4T or 5T.

Regis said several pets were in the home at the time, and while most did not make it, a dog was rescued. Because the family doesn't have a home to bring him to, a firefighter took him home. Regis said they are looking for a permanent home for the dog, which is a Collie/Shepherd mix.

If you are interested in giving the dog a home or donating the family, you are asked to contact the Martins Ferry Police Department at 740-633-2121.
