BETHANY, W.Va. —

Officials in Brooke County are continuing to investigate a fatal accident at the site of a natural gas pipeline project.

The accident happened Sunday along Camp Run Road in Bethany.

In a news release, officials with the Brooke County Sheriff's Office said the man who died was 45 years old and is from Louisiana. His name was not released as of 5 p.m. Monday.

The Sheriff's Office said the victim was operating heavy equipment to move large sections of pipe when around 6:20 p.m., the pipe swayed and crashed through the windshield of the cab operator, killing him.

The company doing the work on the project is Precision Pipeline, headquartered in Wisconsin. Precision Pipeline is contracted out by Access Midstream.

Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it could take months before they finish the investigation into the man's death.
