NEWCOMERSTOWN, Ohio —

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol have identified one person who was killed in a plane crash Saturday afternoon in Tuscarawas County.

Officials said Emil Bisaccia, 59, of New Jersey, was killed in the crash and reported as the only fatality.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said they received a call from the Tuscarawas 911 Center about 12:23 p.m. that a small plane went down in a wooded area just south of Newcomerstown and east of Interstate 77.

Fire and EMS officials found for the wreckage in Oxford Township, dispatchers said.

Federal Aviation Administration officials said the single-engine plane was registered to Photopheresis Inc., based in Morristown, New Jersey. Officials said the pilot was flying from New Jersey to the Ohio State University Airport in Columbus.

FAA investigators and the county coroner were called out to the scene. Once the FAA wraps up the initial analysis, the investigation will be headed over to the National Transportation Safety Board, FAA officials said.
