Arrest warrant issued in string of Marshall Co. burglaries

By Philip Stahl

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va.—

Sheriff Kevin Cecil said that his deputies have issued an arrest warrant for one person who they say stole several items from people’s outside properties between Thanksgiving and last weekend.

John Duley, 26, of Moundsville, has a warrant out for his arrest, but will not be served until a later date.

“Right now he is in a hospital over in Ohio. As soon as he is released, we will arrest him and then extradite him back to West Virginia,” said Cecil.

Duley, part of a group, according to Cecil burglarized over a dozen homes, along with a second group who Cecil is working to track down.

“We have a pretty good idea who we are dealing with her. I want to tell the people of Middle Grave Creek that we are working really hard on this case, and we expect more arrests to come soon,” said Cecil.

Items stolen from homes vary from chain saws, to power tools and yard equipment.

“There is no doubt these items are being stolen to feed to the on-going drug abuse problem that is in the county and the nation,” said Cecil.

Once released into police custody, Duley will face one count of breaking and entering and petit larceny.

Cecil could not elaborate, due to the ongoing investigation when more arrests will be made.
