MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. —

Shoppers at the Dollar General in Moundsville got more than they bargained for Sunday morning when a car came crashing into the store.

It happened right around 11 a.m.

"She got in her car. Must have thought it was in drive, but it was in reverse. Backed up, struck another vehicle that was in the parking lot and entered the building through the side," Moundsville police officer Jared Newman said.

Newman said the driver, an elderly woman, was shopping before the incident. He said others who were inside at the time were a bit confused.

"They just said it sounded like a bunch of shopping carts banging together. They didn't realize what had happened until after the fact," said Newman.

The shoppers and employees who were inside were not injured, however the driver was complaining of some pain.

"The female driver complained of some back pains and she was transported to the hospital for some minor medical attention. I don't believe she is severely hurt in any way," explained Newman.

Because the accident happened on private property, Newman said the woman will not be cited and the payment for all the damage is up to the insurance company.

"There will be a report done from us provided to the insurance company and it is up to them to assess the damages," Newman said.

The name of the driver has not been released.
