A person was taken by medical helicopter to a nearby hospital after smashing into a building on the 300 block of Main Street in downtown Weirton.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. The driver crashed into the building next to the Irish Pub. 

Weirton  police tell us that one person, who was driving a Cougar, hit a parked truck, which then caused it to move forward, and then  crash into the building. 

There was only minor damage to the building.  We also were told that no one was in the truck that was hit and Weirton police say a medical issue may have caused the driver of the Cougar to crash. 

Officials say this incident is still under investigation. Main Street has since been reopened.
