BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

Belmont County officials have announced the sale of all 125 acres of the Fox Commerce Park to 18 businesses.

That announcement came at Wednesday's commissioner's meeting. Officials are calling it a milestone for business development in the county.

The idea for the industrial park began back in 1998 with the first business moving in in 2005.

"Even though it sounds like the end of sales, it's the beginning of full operation at the park and that's very exciting," Community Improvement Corporation Executive Director Sue Douglass said.

From big businesses like Fed Ex with more than 100 employees to smaller ones with only a handful of workers, Douglass said they are all working together to make the park a success.

However, one challenge officials said they face is the price for land since the demand is so great in the area.

"We have the desire, we have the property. The cost is what is a significant factor though especially in the infrastructure needs that are developing," Douglass said.

She added that the CIC is working on state and federal levels to get grants to help make sure business keeps coming.

And even though the park is full, Douglass said they are not about to turn anyone away.

"Our goal is to make sure that anyone who inquires about doing business in Belmont county (can). Please do call us and we will work with you to find a happy home for you here in our county," she said.

At the meeting, commissioners said this certainly is an exciting time for the county.

Douglass also told NEWS9 that the companies that are moving in are looking to hire local.
