Mom speaks out about son's fatal accident

By Adam Del Rosso

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

Details continue to develop in a deadly hit and run incident in Belmont County along US 40. That accident left 31-year-old Jason Catanne dead.

Officials with Ohio State Highway Patrol said the car connected to the investigation has been found and impounded by police.

On Thursday, NEWS9 was also able to sit down and speak with the victim's mother about the accident. Unfortunately for Donna Catanne, this isn't the first child she has lost.

"That was my only son. I lost my daughter, six years apart. I'm still not over her yet," Catanne said. "He went to one of his best friends mom's funeral, Travis Clark and Brian and he was on his way home," she explained.

Donna told NEWS9 Jason would walk, unless he was able to get a ride, because he had no car.

The last time Donna spoke to her son was the night before the accident, not expecting she would never hear from him again.

"Everything dropped. I even fell to the floor 'cause I was in shock. I still am," Donna said, explaining how she reacted when she heard the news.

"But the person that did it, I want them to come forward. You don't know how bad I want to beat the hell out of you," Donna pleaded.

While upset, Donna still has happy memories of her son, the man who she says loved the outdoors and loved his family too.

"I just know he loved everybody. He would do anything for anybody. I love you Jason."

Police do have a suspect in the case; however, they are not releasing much more at this time.
