JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a three-car crash in Jefferson County that left one person dead and another injured Saturday.

According to reports, Daniel Flaherty, 67, of Smithfield, traveled westbound on State Route 150 south of Mount Pleasant at 5:32 p.m. A 17-year-old male was headed eastbound when he went left of center and hit Flaherty's car head-on, troopers said. The impact resulted in a third car driven by Gary Kish, 59, of Dillonvale, being hit.

First responders took Flaherty to East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash, reports said.

A female juvenile passenger of the 17-year-old was treated at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling for her injuries, troopers said.

Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
