Road work on Interstate 70 in Ohio Co. complete

By Philip Stahl

WHEELING, W.Va.—

Crews with Shelley & Sands pulled all orange barrels and reopened all entrance and exit ramps to Interstate 70 near the Wheeling Tunnel Saturday.

Crews started last month repairing all broken concrete joints from the Tunnel to the Washington Ave. exit.

The $3.6 million project started late September. Crews actually finished work four days ahead of the scheduled Oct. 31 completion date.

During the project, the West Virginia Division of Highways halted lighting work in I-470 because of numerous complaints.

It's unknown when that work will resume.
