Sheriff's Office X-raying candy for trick-or-treaters

By Philip Stahl

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va.—

The Ohio County Sheriff's Office will X-ray any trick-or-treater's candy tonight from 7-9 p.m. for free in order to ensure everyone has a safe bag of treats.

"We are doing this for anyone in the Wheeling or Ohio County area. We want everyone to be safe," said Sheriff Pat Butler. "I remember one year when I was on patrol, someone stuck pins in candy bars."

Butler reminds everyone to be safe, slow down for kids and if you see suspicious candy or activity to report it immediately to police.

Wheeling's trick-or-treating is tonight from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
