Steubenville City Council to continue budget deficit talks next week

By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio

Steubenville City Council met on Thursday evening to discuss personnel and collective bargaining negotiations in an effort to eliminate the city's deficit.

The three-hour meeting took place behind closed doors.

While council will meet next Tuesday to continue those talks, city manager Cathy Davison said council is calling on all three unions and non-contract employees to take a part in eliminating the $1.1 million deficit.

Davison said the deficit is due to an increase in health care, continued cuts from the state and tax reimbursements.
